A stream and a green area covering as many as 1,000 hectares, nine municipalities plus a Committee for Hydric Reclamation are the constituents that make the Parco Locale di Interesse Sovracomunale del Lura the only one of its kind. This protected area, cut across by the Lura stream, encompasses the municipalities of Guanzate, Cadorago, Cermenate, Bregnano, Lomazzo, Rovellasca, Rovello Porro, Saronno e Caronno Pertusella. Over the years, this nature sanctuary has had the chance of making itself better known through the numerous Volunteer Groups and Associations that have helped fighting environmental degradation by simple hikes or other events to preserve the alluring features the reserve aims at protecting. While walking along the Lura stream you will enjoy luxuriant woods, tranquillity, birds and other wildlife happily savouring their freedom, votive aedicules and age old farmhouses. This valley linking the Provinces of Como and Varese manages to re-establish the correct balanced harmony between man and nature.
