Casa natale di Paolo VI
Giovanni Battista Montini was born on September 26th 1897 in Concesio where his family used to spend their holiday at his mother’s parental home. A walled-in bronze statue on its outer wall shows Pope Paul VI’s birthplace from the street. It is a historic building, bought by the Montini family around 1850. The mansion, which features a 15th century cross vault wing with painted coffered ceiling, and a 1600’s wing featuring the wrought iron balcony on the façade but not open to visitors. Giovanni Battista Montini was elected to the papacy and took the name Paul VI on June 21st 1963. He died in Castelgandolfo on August 6th 1978.
