The didactic farms in Lombardy are a number of selected agricultural businesses that engage in educational activities - besides their agricultural production - and welcome the public offering education for all age groups from children to adults.
These farms offer the possibility to get to know the agricultural business, the food cycle, animal live, vegetal life’s cycle, the farmers’ craft and their social role plus the terrain of Lombardy.
Visiting an educational farm gives the opportunity, besides educating oneself to become aware of conscious consumption and protection of the environment.
As grounds for the didactic offer you find principles of active pedagogy - learning by doing - for all age groups.
To become a didactic farm, the business needs to be accredited to be accepted and be part of the circuit of the Lombardy Region.
All staff took part in a specific educational training and are required to go through further education every year.

Summary of the didactic farms’ efforts:

• Accreditation is received by the Region of Lombardy after an evaluation of the educational project, availability of suitable and functional spaces for the suggested activities, disposal of toilets, water points and security measures;
• Continuous upgrading training courses for all employees and staff of the didactic farm;
• Corresponding number of employees in relation to the hospitality ensuring the ration staff/guest is no lower than 1/30;
• Being equipped with suitable signs in areas that could result dangerous for clients to the activities.
