Il tempio capitolino e foro Romano - resti
At the heart of Brescia historic centre, in today’s Piazza del Foro, you can see the remains of the Roman Forum Square and Capitoline Temple, dating back to the times of the Flavian Emperors (69-96 AD). In the Roman Age this was the ideal trading place for merchants and crafts-makers. Northwards you will find the Capitoline Temple, built in 73 AD by Emperor Vespasian above the former Republican Sanctuary of the 1st century b.C.. This temple was consecrated to the worship of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva, the Capitoline Triad the temple is named after. The very heart of Roman Brescia was encompassed by the main square, this temple and a theatre located just a stone’s throw away.
