This small church dedicated to the Virgin Mary, was built around 1300 sheer above river Adda. Many tales have been told about this church lovely though in its plainness. one of those said it was built as a tribute after a fisherman’s miraculous rescue from the flood. To others, the views from the top of the hillock where the church is built are the same as those in the background of a famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci: The Virgin of the Rocks. Today, the Rocchetta Shrine is a pleasant venue for tourist and art and nature lovers.
