The ‘Torbiere del Sebino’ (Sebino Bogs) natural reserve is a natural haven in Lombardy and offers this area the highest possible level of environmental protection. The ecological relevance of this environment is such that it has been listed among the humid areas of international significance. It is a reed covered area studded with small ponds and surrounded by cultivated fields or anthropized areas. Part of the land borders Lake Iseo and is called ‘Lametta’; an inner part, featuring bigger basins spaced out by clay banks is called ‘lama’; there is also a third zone which features man-made pools originated by clay excavation works.
