The Northern Grigna Regional Park encompasses the territories of the municipalities of Cortenova, Esino, Lario, Prlasco, Pasturo, Perledo, Primaluna, Taceno, Varenna. From the Pioverna valley as far as the top of the Grignone, the Park vegetation features a variety of aspects that make the landscape splendid in its alternation of woody and open areas so pleasant to our eyes. This peculiar feature is due to the wise work of the local peasants who are still breeding their cattle, cultivating their fields on the Northern Grigna hillside. The suggestive park landscape is thus created by the association of multifarious flora species. Despite the relatively low elevation (the park encompasses a 1,900 mt drop), the Grigna massif also features a wide variety of habitats and climates. Whilst the Valsassina Slope features a mainly alpine climate, the slope overlooking Lake Lario enjoys milder temperatures. this is why the protected area is a haven for so many wildlife species. The casual encounter with animals is an unforgettable and intense experience.
