Le Grazie is a hamlet in the municipality of Curtatone, in the Province ofMantua. the area is located on the reed-covered shore and among the canals of the so-called Higher lake, the widest of the three basins formed by the river Mincio around the town, as a consequence of the massive hydraulic engineering and reclamation interventions carried out by Alberto Pitentino in the XIIIth century. Part of the territory of the Municipality of Curtatone is included in the Floral-faunistic context of the Park of the River Mincio where the river expands to form the lake basins surrounding Mantua. The Shrine of the Beata Vergine delle Grazie is a Lombard Gothic church, dedicated to the Virgin and located in the hamlet of Le Grazie, in the municipality of Curtatone, 9 km away from Mantua. Built on a wide square, the basilica towers on the paludal ecosystem of river Mincio and creates a suggestive atmosphere for the numerous tourist and pilgrim groups.
